Lucky Items

Today was the day I was in charge of the Jeep. It's a bankisha of bears with a camera. Suzunosuke eats clover in the morning. Autumn of appetite! There is something attached to it. It seems that today's lucky item of Suzunosuke is "three-leaf clover"! (^▽^) ゙ Was it easy to get away with it because it was wet after the rain? Whether he realizes it or not, I hope today is a good day for Suzunosuke! Recently, Inuo has a daily routine of taking a nap here. It's so snug in the hollow that you can (^^;) pass by without noticing it If you look closely, it's really cool and sleeping! (@△@) I was taking a picture with a grin on my face, and I noticed it and opened my eyes. Impoliteness! Please enjoy a leisurely nap, I'm sorry! "Not at all," he says, turning over and falling asleep again. Near the stream where Inuo was sleeping, there are beautiful red, yellow, and orange autumn leaves.

It's going to rain, it's snowing.

Yesterday's rain is gradually bringing the autumn leaves to an end. The leaves have fallen, the view from the promenade has improved, and bears are easier to spot. Even so, it will be a "autumn leaves and bears" picture. (I said the same thing during the cherry blossom season (・Θ・;)) On the three-day holiday from tomorrow, the area around Sahoro is considered to be the peak of the best time to see autumn leaves. Please stop by on your way out. And don't forget your camera! And I found a snow bug in Bear Point ( ̄ ̄ "+")! !! It's going to snow next week (probably). Please wear warm clothes. We look forward to seeing you. It was close to the promenade and the autumn leaves were hidden, so I pulled it

The story of Misumi, a beauty lover

Today was the day I was in charge of the barn. (Depending on the day, we will guide or ride a jeep) Send the bears into the park and start cleaning the room! Hmmm, the amount of poop is tremendous! Eat a lot and get out a lot. Looking at the room of 18 horses, I thought that the way the room was used was also unique. Today's theme is "What I thought when I saw Misumi's room"! The poop is always grouped together on the human aisle. The floor is dry and clean... And he always poops in the water bowl (it's hard to clean!). < conversation when we chatted about Misumi's personality> M: Meticulous Kanji? And temperamental. I'm always serious about Hirotake. (But maybe Hirotake is being teased because he deliberately acts like he's being chased by Misumi?) K: I'm more vigilant than anyone else! Adult bears that don't dwell around (laughs) Me: I feel like I'm drawing a line between me and humans. He has a lot of pride as a bear...? It's a nerve-wracking bear, isn't it? I was amazed when I skillfully removed the small grains of Yama grapes from the bunches with my mouth and hands and ate them! K: He's better at fighting than other bears. It's like he knows where he needs to take to gain an advantage. In the morning, when I go to the animal house and look at the bears in the room in turn, Misumi is always in this position. It's cool and cool. It's tempting to say, "Good morning, Misumi!" Other bears bang on the door, saying, "Get out quickly," but this is Misumi. Wait patiently for your turn to open the door in this position. (He realizes something...) ← Zookeeper: K "It's noisy, leave me alone," Misumi said. (^^) Good night! [Zookeeper: Ito]

Wonderful Autumn

Today, the temperature is clear and easy to squirm in. The summer sun is glaring, but the autumn sun feels gentle, doesn't it? The scenery in the park, where the autumn leaves have deepened, is very beautiful with golden yellow and bright red. The light that shines in is also golden-yellow・・・The bear is also leisurely hinatabokko・・・( 'U') The leaves will fall from now on, so it will be easier to find the bear. Recently, I have noticed that more and more customers are bringing binoculars with them. I feel like that is increasing every year. Does it mean that customers come with the feeling of "I'm going to look for bears!" rather than "I'm going to see bears"? As a zookeeper, I am very happy to see the "spirit" of the customer. And even without binoculars, your child will quickly spot a bear in the distance. (As expected, the antenna is sharp?!) Binoculars are also available for rent. Bear Mountain is located on a mountain pass, so please come in warm clothes. [Zookeeper: Ito]

Hirotake and Kouta met and looked at each other to keep each other in check. Hirotake puts his butt on a standing tree, stands up and rubs his back. Not to be outdone, Kouta rubbed his back. I was rubbing my back many times while walking in a flaunty way. Bears with a big appetite. Occasionally, there will be skirmishes over food. Everyone eats and eats and eats hard to store nutrients in their bodies, and it seems like there is no bottom to how far they eat. I'm planning to increase the number of Yama grapes, the autumn dessert of such bears, by cuttings, but the other day a young and pretty green leaf came out. I want to take good care of them and let the bears eat delicious grapes. [Zookeeper: Ito]

Beyond the line of sight...

Bear point on a rainy day. Koji relaxes in his usual place (at the edge of the pond). Closing or opening your eyes, bothering you about something? A short distance away from Koji, Hirotake is putting a little bit on Rokuta. Are you inviting them to play? Lokta seems a little annoying...? Koji is glancing at the situation. The moment when Hirotake lightly put his front paws on Rokuta! Koji finally came up. (Right: Koji, Left Hashi: Rokuta, Center: Hirotake) Did you mistakenly think that Hirotake was being bullied even though Hirotake was putting a little bit of pressure on him? He was getting closer and closer, glaring at Locta. Koji tends to care about Hirotake to the point of worry. In the past, when Hirotake ate too much salmon and returned a little "oh", I was worried and went out of my way to check on him, and I saw Hirotake walk to Bear Point and turned back to where I used to be. In the wild, it is an animal that acts alone, but it seems that when many bears live within a defined range, they naturally acquire social skills. It's really interesting to observe. It will be an interesting research theme for the future. [Zookeeper: Ito] Today's bonus Beautiful autumn leaves near Bear Point ・・・ Autumn leaf hunting (^^) even though I am at work

Today's Souvenir

Yesterday, I went to Urahoro for personal business. When I entered the park, there were many Mizunara trees, and there were acorns under them that made me cry out, "Wow!" My colleague and I picked it up in a plastic bag. I feel like I've been picking up a lot of acorns lately... When I looked around, there were a few people who were collecting them just like us. Is this what it feels like to be a bear eating nuts while picking them up? I suddenly thought. Somehow, I feel that the grains are larger than the acorns I see in Sahoro. Also, there were a lot of mountain grapes. I tasted it on the spot, but after all it was suppai! !! This morning, I gave it to Hirotake and Joiner at the animal barn. I thought → I would eat acorns, chubby and crispy grapes, → remove the fruit from the bunch cleanly, but I munched on it as it was. ← like this (^^) After that, when I was cleaning the room, I found that almost undigested Yama grape grains came out in the poop of Suzunosuke. It seems that they were looking for it in the park and eating it. [Zookeeper: Ito]

Pop Po Poto Poto

Recently, there have been acorns on the side of the road, so I thought I would give them to the bears, so today I was spreading the acorns near the ticket gates. Then the bus driver told me, "The acorns here are eaten by the squirrels who often come here." They leave the fallen acorns on the curb in front of the ticket gates. Then, the next morning, there were marks from eating! I thought, "Wow, that's wonderful, everyone is busy getting ready for winter," and I was walking along the pedestrian bridge toward Bear Point. Potopoto, Potopoto・・・・・Potopoto I looked up and said, "What the hell?!" and saw the acorn crows falling. What a wonderful thing! A chipmunk is eating acorns on my head!! I wondered if I would be noticed, so I got down on my knees and looked at me with a stupid face with my mouth open. Chipmunks are already obsessed with acorns. They eat this one, eat this one, and then they say, "Whoa, this is worm-eaten," and they don't eat the acorns with the little worm-eaten holes, but drop them. I'm so stuffed that I'm worried about whether I'll be able to get it out later. It seems that it is rare for a chipmunk to climb a tall tree, and sometimes it loses its balance and almost falls, but it manages to cling to it and says, "One fight!" I contacted the driver I had just talked to by radio and decided to take a picture, so I hurriedly took my camera and when I came back, I climbed up the tree and ate it. I couldn't stop the excitement and excitement and the grin on my face like when I found a creature I had never seen before as a child. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to find it when you pass by the promenade. If you notice it, please watch over it quietly and warmly. [Zookeeper: Ito]

Natural Kumajarashi

Perhaps because of the strong wind last night, there were many dead branches falling in the park today. Today, the bear's breath turned white, and at one point it even rained hail! Is it the effect of the cold?! I think there were many bears sleeping in each place from the morning. The joiner immediately sits down in his favorite yabu, digging up the ground two or three times, and feeling like he has become a "good anbai". I went to bed and slumbered in a daze, and woke up at half past two. When I thought, "I'm dressed strangely," I lay on my back and played with the drooping branches of the birch. It flutters its legs and hides its golden head. Sometimes I lift the thick dead branches that have fallen and bench press ...! Amazing! I played for about 40 minutes without getting bored. After that, I munched on the green grass on the ground. Joiner is a gluttonous person and usually walks around all day looking for food, but today he was more "playful" than "gluttonous"? The watching bus also encountered the scene at the right time, so the customers who were able to see it were very lucky★. ・' It was fun (^▽^) for me to play hide and seek while filming (I stopped the car in the distance and watched it because the jeep might distract the joiner if it was nearby. I made a mistake in setting the camera and took a picture with a small size. Sorry for the hard to see;

Still active!

Shingo and Inuo, the oldest in Bear Mountain, are 25 years old. In human terms, it's probably too much 70. Normally, the two of them don't fight and spend their time calmly, but the other day, I witnessed Shingo's masculine and energetic appearance! After happily bathing in the pond at Bear Point... "I'm here!!" "I'm here!!" Hug a nearby tree and gouache your neck. Slither on the back. I was able to see a rare back rubbing! I don't have many opportunities to see old bears rubbing their backs, so I couldn't help but exclaim, "Shingo rubbed his back!" It was a wonderful back rub that made my presence known to those around me! Yikes! Shingo! Sahoro is still hot, but the cold in the mornings and evenings is becoming autumn-like. The bears also need to gradually prepare their bodies for the winter. Their appetite also rises rapidly, and they become more active in search of food. The acorns of Mizunara in the park have also grown so big! Rowan berries are also a beautiful red! [Zookeeper: Ito]

I'm always looking for you here. There is a high probability that you will be swimming in a shallow ditch! Jajaan! I cornered it and successfully held it down with my front legs. It looks like it wants a fish... Where should I take it?Joiner seemed very happy when he caught a moving fish. However, he released it without eating it. I caught it once again! Chasing them seems more appealing than eating them. I'll go ashore and drop it into the pond again on purpose (^^;) Don't worry about it! Once again in the pond... I found it again! I feel very proud. (I don't feel like getting angry.) I was about to steal the salmon from Rokuta who came after this, so I hurriedly started eating it. Next week, it's finally time

The September event “Give Autumn Salmon to Brown Bears” is finally approaching next week. For those who can't wait, here's a little preview of last year's event (* ̄(E) ̄)o/ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄~ >゜ )))>彡 The location is in front of Bear Point. How do you give a brown bear autumn salmon, which is a typical autumn taste of Hokkaido, and eat the fish? This is an event where you can see the ecology. Autumn is an important season for brown bears. We must store subcutaneous fat in preparation for ``winter confinement,'' where we do not eat or defecate for more than 100 days. Therefore, autumn is an important season for building their bodies to survive the winter, as there is plenty of food available. In addition to salmon, they also eat mushrooms, berries, and nuts for nutrition. Bear Mountain's brown bears are also hibernating during the winter, so care staff keep an eye on them every day, not only to monitor their physical condition but also to monitor changes in their physique (weight). Back to the topic, are you seeing the unusual behavior of the staff? Or maybe by smelling it? I don't know why, but the bears sensed that something was going on and gathered in front of Bear Point. Then, with the salmon in its mouth, it moved to the safety of a bamboo thicket. Secretly hide away and keep it all to yourself. This is a 4-frame photo. In the fourth photo, she looks happy while eating, but her hips are raised so she can move at any time. I'm not good at photography so it's hard to see, but did you get the idea? Should you eat salmon from the head or the tail? How long does it take to eat one? Please take a look at the real thing. Please see event information for details including dates and times.

I'm sorry for surprising you (^^;) It happened so quickly that I didn't even have time to take out my camera, but it was my first time seeing a wild Ezo chipmunk, so it was a great encounter! In the afternoon, I heard a ``Gya Gya'' voice coming from the top of the tree. When I looked around, I found it, and Mr. Bando, who was watching it with me, told me, ``It's a Japanese crow.'' The colors are so bright. The fact that they can make such a loud cry with such a small body shows how strong they are in life. The other day I wrote about the Quercus oak tree, and I found this insect on the Quercus tree! I think it was around 7? When I called out to a child who was walking by, he was surprised and said, "Wow!" I observed it for a while, and it kept eating leaves and dropping poop about 5 mm in size. I wonder what it will look like from now on. Why don't you all enjoy and feel nature in its entirety? (^▽^) [Keeper: Ito]
