How to find a bear

Our breeding staff may often ask questions from our customers. If you say something about it... "How do you tell the bears?" Yes, that's how the bears are each other! So I'll show you how to tell a bear in my way. This time, I will introduce 4 bears (*^∀^*) Kouta Looks like a bear! A bear that seems to be a bear. The hair is blackish overall, and it is characterized by vitiligo on the neck. Overall round. *What are vitiligo? It is a white pattern under the neck that is also the origin of the name of the black bear. There are individuals that are not only black bears but also brown bears. (On the other hand, there are bears that do not have vitiligo even in black bears) Santa Characterized by a habit hair that the hair on the top of the head is like an onion. His face is as long as a horse, his body shape is small and smart. By the way, the onion part of the head is not in twin hinata. ... why? (;^∀^^ The bigest of the bears in Canta Bear Mountain! If there are other bears nearby, it may be easy to understand because the body is about one time large? The round tail like a dumpling is very cute. The shape of the face is oval, the ears are fan-shaped. Joiner: Only the hair on his face is golden and his body is brown. Do you look a little like a panda? It is a bear with a big body, but its face is very big compared to other bears (laughs) How about it? Was it a little helpful? By the way, distinguishing bears is called "individual identification" in a slightly difficult word. Among the zookeepers' work, it is very important because if this individual identification is not properly done, health management of bears will not be possible. Let's remember the faces and names of the bears and aim to become Bear Mountain Masters! [Breeding: Nagata]

Autumn salmon present last day to brown bear - Get edition -

Santa lost his first salmon. I know I'm preparing a second salmon on the roof of the building, and I can't wait and stand upright! The hind legs of a brown man have heels, so they can stand well with humans. I tried to zoom the camera, but after all it is bad. Let's take a look at the second salmon capture.

Autumn salmon present last day to brown bear failure edition

On the last day of the three consecutive holidays, the brown bear was given autumn salmon on the last day. Santa (front) and Joiner (back) stand by in the pond today. Because the pond on the glass surface is shallower, autumn salmon is dropped in front of Santa. Can you catch the first one well?

Footprints sighted around Lake Sahoro

On the afternoon of Sunday, September 11, about a 10-minute drive from the hotel, there are probably three footprints left on the driveway around Lake Sahoro. The far left hind leg seems to be quite large. Are wild brown bears also expanding their range of activities in search of rice for winter weather? Please be careful when you take a walk at dawn or dusk during the time when brown bears are active. Also, when playing outside, mushroom hunting, fishing, etc., let's inform your existence with bear bells and sounds and do not encounter bears. This weekend, we will give brown bears autumn salmon!

salamander

Do you know an animal called salamander? It is a small animal that looks like a lizard in the same amphibians as frogs. There are various types of salamanders in various parts of Japan, and here in Hokkaido, there are two types of salamanders and kita salamanders (*only in the Kushiro Marsh). In fact, many yezo salamanders live in the mountains around Bear Mountain, and every year around April to May they come to lay eggs in puddles in the park. The Ezo salamander in this photo was born from an egg collected this year and has the same shape as an adult, but it is still a child. By the way, there is a pattern like gold powder on the body (I will become an adult over many years), but the closer I get to adulthood, the less this gold powder disappears, and the color of my body becomes black. (Strange!) Currently, yezo salamanders are on display in BarePoint, so please observe them when you come (*^∀^*) I like dark places, so I think there are many things that are hidden under rocks? 【Breeding Nagata】

A good man dripping water! !

Obon has passed and Hokkaido has become a cool climate like autumn. I just said it was chilly for humans because of the light rain today, but even so the bears looked full of energy. When I was observing the joiner who came to Bear Point while it was raining lightly... It's rough!!! He seemed to enjoy playing in the water. Well, it looks comfortable!! The bears love bathing (*^∀^*) (Actually, they were moving like butterfles at this time!) The next article will be "How to tell a bear". 【Breeding: Nagata】

Gokase Town Mission

Today, the Gokase Town Mission visited Bear Mountain as an exchange project between Gokase Town and My Town Shintoku Town located in the northwestern part of Miyazaki Prefecture. The previous night, the members of the mission who had already encountered bears. It's the first thing in the morning, but I'm full of energy! I immediately got on a bare-watching bus and infiltrated the Brown Bear Forest. Find a bear and start a photo session! I'm trying hard to get the best shot at My Camera. Slipping through the side of the bus, marking, finding a figure to play in the water, the car ♪ the morning was full of light rain, but by the time I got to Bare Point, the sunlight came in and it became brighter. Because it is a great help, I return by the promenade course from Bare Point. On the way, I found a cicadas and enjoyed nature outside of bears. At the end, we took a commemorative photo in front of the bus ☆ Everyone enjoyed watching. I think there are many other exchange projects left, but don't forget about the events in Bear Mountain. And while looking at the photos I took a lot, I would be happy if the people at home could talk about brown bears♪ Shintoku town and Gokase town are far away, but I hope they will come to see me again ☆

How to spend a hot day

Shintoku Town, where Bear Mountain is located, often exceeds 30°C in summer, even in Hokkaido. (The Tokachi region is a hot region!) How do our Ezo brown bears spend their time on such a midsummer day? So today I tried to sneak into the cave at Bear Point! !! The three of them were taking a nap together! It looks easy and comfortable (* '∀'*) (Left: Hirotake, Upper right: Koji, Lower right: Joiner) In fact, the optimum temperature for Ezo brown bears is said to be 4°C to 7°C. It's much easier for bears to spend time in the cold than in the cool. For such hot bears, the cave is a favorite spot because it is cool even in midsummer. But when three of them enter, they are crammed and look a little hot (laughs) This time, these three were included, but the joiner is a bear that is often in the cave. Whether it's very hot, dark places, or just your favorite place... Only Joiner knows the answer! (・∀・) When you come to Bear Mountain, be sure to observe the bears in the caves! 【Breeding: Nagata】

Today it is also over 30 ° C. We will introduce the popular "Dobbon Watermelon", the 14 o'clock time. Has watermelon time been ticked into your biological clock recently? I eat watermelon deliciously.

I've been giving watermelon to the bears for some time now, but I was giving priority to the bears who were feeling tired in the summer and had less appetite. Even if bears don't eat food, they love watermelon so much that they gulp it down. Watermelon is an anti-aging food that is rich in lycopene, has antioxidant properties, prevents high blood pressure, has diuretic properties, and has many other benefits for humans. Watermelons are expensive this year, but a luxury event called [Dobbone Watermelon] has started. The mushroom senses something and stands up to peek at the care staff above. Drop the watermelon with a loud sound. Kouji got it right away! Is it crunchy when pressed against the glass surface? Backbak? I'm eating. There are moments when people cheer more when they see her big soles than when she eats a watermelon. It looks delicious and I eat it. Doesn't it look like you're smiling without a heart? It doesn't matter the skin or the seeds. The whole thing is packed!
