Have you ever heard of an animal called a salamander?
It is a small animal that is the same amphibian as a frog and looks like a lizard.
Various types of salamanders inhabit various parts of Japan, and here in Hokkaido, there are two species, the Ezo salamander and the Kita salamander (*only in the Kushiro wetlands).
In fact, there are many Ezo salamanders living in the mountains around Bear Mountain, and they come to lay their eggs in the puddles in the park around April ~ May every year.
The Ezo salamander in this photo was born from eggs collected this year and is already the same shape as an adult, but it is still a child. (It takes years to grow up.)
By the way, there is a pattern like gold dust on the body, but the closer you get to adulthood, the more this gold dust disappears and the color of the body becomes black. (Wonders!) )
Currently, Ezo salamanders are also on display in Bear Point, so please observe them when you come (*^∀^*)
I like dark places, so I often hide under rocks.
