In March, Enlightenment Day is approaching. 氷点下10℃の寒空の下、お祈りをしています。 ・・・というのは冗談で、ヒグマたちの寝息を計測しています。 獣舎の屋根の上に換気口があり、 ここから冬ごもり中のヒグマの寝息を確認します。 代謝を抑えるため、呼吸数も減少。 1分間に2?3回ほどしか呼吸をしません。 T時に見える管の片方を手で抑え、もう片方を耳に当てて確認。 晴れの日も、吹雪の日も、欠かせない大切な作業です。 飼育下において集団で冬ごもりをしているのは、世界的に見てもここベア・マウンテンだけ。 今年で8回目の冬を迎えています。

降雪のため休園していたベア・マウンテン。 園内や遊歩道の除雪も終わり、残りあと3日ですが営業いたしました。 これまで4月のオープン時に園内に雪が残ることはありましたが、秋に雪が降ったのははじめて。 うっすらと残る雪面のおかげで、クマが見つけやすくなっています。 そして奥には紅葉が。 秋と冬がいっぺんに楽しめるのもあと2日、 ベア・マウンテンは10月20日（日）をもち、2013年度の営業を終了いたします。

10月突入！ つい先日まで「暑い×2」と言っていたのに・・・早いですね。 ベア・マウンテンは今期の営業は10月20日（日）まで。 毎週火曜日が定休日となります。 冬ごもりに向けこからドンドン食があがり、まるまると大きくなってきますよー。 黄葉とヒグマを楽しむ良い季節となりますので、 ドライブの途中にヒグマ達に会いにいらしてくださいね！ そしてヒグマを見た後は、カフェでまったりお過ごしください。

せっかくの三連休、雨で残念ですね。 ホントは行きたかったけど、行けなかったという方にご覧いただけるよう イベントの様子を撮影してみました。 サンタとヒナタの勇姿（？）をご覧ください。

秋の恒例イベント 『ヒグマに秋鮭プレゼント』 十勝釧路管内さけ・ます増殖事業協会様のご協力により、 こんな立派な秋鮭をヒグマたちに与えることができます。 体長50cmほどでしょうか。 池に放流すると、反応したのはヒナタ。 必死に追いかけます。 1尾目は、秋鮭の勝ち。 池の深い方へと逃げ込み、スルスルとヒグマの猛撃を泳ぎ抜けます。 ヒナタはつかまえられず、イライラ(ーー゛) 2尾目は、ヒナタの勝ち。 見てください！このドヤ顔！！ 「俺、すごいだろ」的な視線と口の開き方。 それにしても男性スタッフが両手でしっかり持つほど大きな鮭を、 ガブリとひと口でくわえられる力、可動域。 やはりすごい能力の持ち主ですね。 どのように獲ったかは、また明日。 「ヒグマに秋鮭プレゼント」は、明日・あさってもやりますよー。

9月に突入し、お別れの日がついにやってきてしまいました。 ショコラとマロンがサホロで見られるのは明日（9/3）まで。 淋しいですね。。。(T_T) しかし、この狭い展示スペースではストレスが溜まってしまいます。 ショコラとマロンにとっても良い事なのです。 のぼりべつクマ牧場に戻ってからも、サホロ魂（？）を忘れずに気に、美しく、育ってほしいです。 ベアポイントには輸送用の檻が準備されていました。小さくても、クマはクマなのです。

ついに、この時がやってきてしまいました。 『コグマ、のぼりべつに帰る。』 ベア・マウンテンですくすくと成長した双子の赤ちゃんクマ。 お客様と記念撮影をしたり、名前を決めてもらったり、体重当てクイズをしたり。 産まれて3カ月でやってきた双子の赤ちゃんはとても小さく、歩くのもままならず、 GWだというのに雪が降る中お披露目となり、寒さに負けないよう毛布をかけたり、 暖房をあてたり、起きているより寝ている時間の方が多く、 小さくて心配で仕方なかったショコラとマロン。 初夏を迎える6月頃より、おてんば娘に大変身！ 跳んだり、跳ねたり、逆立ちしたり、よじ登ったり、ぶらさがったり、 男性スタッフより力があるのでは？ というほど、成長しました。 8/20現在ではマロンは28Kg！！ コグマ展示場もそろそろ狭くなってきたので、のぼりべつクマ牧場に戻る日が決定いたしました。 あと数日、ベア・マウンテンで元気に過ごしていますので、遊びにいらしてくださいね。 コグマ展示は9月3日まで。

双子のサンタ・ヒナタがガラスの前でレスリングで力比べをしたり、 大口開けてどっちが開くか大会をしていました。 レスリングでガラスにドーンと体当たりすると、お客様から歓声がっ。 そして小さなお子様は「こわい・・・」と泣いていました。 お子様も泣き出す大迫力のヒグマが見られるのは、ベア・マウンテンだけですよ。きっと。

雨続きのサホロ。 梅雨のない北海道ではありますが、 『蝦夷梅雨』が長引いているそうです。 そんな天気でも楽しめるのがベア・マウンテン！ クマたちは、雨が降ろうが、雪が降ろうが、 普段と同じように暮らしています。 ベアウォッチングバスに乗れば、 それほど雨に濡れずクマたちに会いに行けますよ♪ レンタル傘も無料☆ 雨上がりは虹の発生率が高いので、タイミングが合えば虹が見られるかもしれません。

久しぶりの快晴！ ベア・マウンテンでは、サンタとヒナタのダブル立ちが披露されました。 2頭で立ち上がるのは珍しい光景です。

小さい時からやっていたのですが、カラダが大きくなっても上手にできるショコラの特技☆ 　 ↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓ ↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓　↓ 逆立ち。 でも頭がついてるから三点倒立かな。 見よう見まねでマロンもチャレンジしますが、ゴロンと転がってしまいます。 この暑さでもおてんばっぷりは絶好調！ 早く会いに来てね(^_-)-☆
