Hello! It seems that hot days continue every day in Honshu, but Bear Mountain here in Shintoku Town, Hokkaido, is facing a cool summer. Bear Mountain was introduced in "Shimura Animal Garden" broadcast yesterday, August 4, at 19:00! Taka and Toshi came to see brown bears in Hokkaido. Bear Mountain is different from the brown bears in ordinary zoos, and they are kept in a form close to nature. Here you can see brown bears relaxing in the pond, brown bears standing in the trees, brown bears rubbing their backs, etc. Please come and visit ♪ Bear Mountain. Bear Mountain is about 60 minutes by car from the Furano area. About 2 hours by car from Sapporo About 60 minutes by car from Obihiro About 1 hour and 45 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport
In Western Japan, it's a hot day every day❗ It's not only hard for people, but the animals at the zoo must be exhausted as well. The bears are also feeling exhausted from the heat❗ But compared to western Japan, it's probably just because of the heat (lol) The bear in the photo is Moco❗ It was too hot to sleep even if he wanted to take a nap, so he was sleeping using a tree floating in the water as a pillow❗ In the third photo, there's something indescribably cute about his back view, can you tell? (lol)
The correct answer is, ``What's in the pond?'' (lol) If you look for it from the promenade, it's lurking behind the plants, so look for it carefully and take a look❗ By the way, what you can see through the bamboo grass is a Koji.
The weather has been bad and the temperature has been low for the past few days, but it's finally starting to feel like summer. For bears, it's easier when the temperature is lower. Now, in this one photo, there's a bear somewhere~❗ Can you all spot it?
Hello! Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 29, was scheduled to be a closed day, but it will be open normally for group use. * The time zone used by the group may change the timetable. If you are visiting the Sahoro area, please visit Bear Mountain. We are waiting for you!
The cherry blossoms in the park have fallen, and the weather is gradually getting hotter these days❗ More and more bears can't stand the heat and are cooling off at water holes. The bear in the photo is the oldest bear in the park. Maybe it's because he's getting older, but he gets tired quickly, but he has a charming face (lol) It's getting hotter and hotter from now on! There are many water holes in the park, and you can see them having fun bathing and wrestling.
Cherry blossoms and Hirotake The cherry blossoms in the garden of Bear Mountain are now in full bloom! Hirotake was cherry blossom viewing! Hirotake is often near this cherry tree, so when you get on the bear-watching bus, look for this cherry tree as a landmark!
New Bear Introduction (2) Hello everyone. This is an introduction to the brown bear "Lela" that has newly arrived at Bear Mountain! Now 7 years old, he will be the Bear, the son of Mitt, who was the youngest on Bear Mountain. The word lera means wind in the Ainu language. When I put it out on the playground, it was running around like the wind! As for this Lela, like Holt, it will be unveiled after meeting other individuals, so please wait for a while.
Introduction of the new bear (1) Thank you for visiting Golden Week! The holidays are almost over and I feel lonely, but here I would like to introduce you to Bear Mountain's new friends. His name is "Holt"! He is now 8 years old and still young compared to the veteran bears around him, but when he goes out on the playground, he rubs his back against a tree that smells of other bears to override the smell. I haven't greeted the other bears yet, and it seems that my debut in the park will be a little later, but (the keepers also need to understand the relationship with the other bears. We will report back when that time comes.
This season will start operations from Saturday, April 28, 2018. This year, we will also hold a night tour called "Brown Bear Forest Night Walk". Please come and see the energetic bears ~ ( ́∀') Exciting All the staff and bears are waiting for your visit.
Ah, I slept well (104 days) It's been a long time everyone. I'm sorry I can't post during the winter. We are pleased to report that all 11 Ezo brown bears of Bear Mountain have successfully completed their winter stay and welcomed spring. (Thank you to everyone who participated in the winter observation tour.) I put bears out on the playground for the first time in a long time, so I took a picture. I haven't eaten anything for more than 100 days, but I don't even burl and I have a healthy figure. (Even so, depending on the individual, there is a weight loss of about 60 kg ~ 100 kg.) They are the parents and children of Kouta and Hirotake. The one that is too black on the left is Kouta. Movements such as rumbling on the snow and smelling trees were observed. Also, on a separate note, two new Ezo brown bears have joined Bear Mountain... I am still getting used to the new environment, so I don't have any photos, but I would like to introduce them later. This season's Bear Mountain Open is scheduled for Sunday, April 28. All the bears and all the staff are looking forward to your visit!
In December, the bears on Bear Mountain begin to enter winter. I started to reduce my feed in late November and entered full fasting in early December. The keeper in the photo has rice straw that can be used as nesting material for bears. Observe the inside of the animal house every day and carefully check the condition of the straw, and if it is a little insufficient, put it in through the ventilation opening as shown in the photo. Right now, nearly half of the bears are moving more slowly and are sleeping more and more, but Santa, Hinata, and Hirotake are still awake every time the keepers go to observe them because they don't go back and forth (laughs).
Winter preparations The cold days are continuing, and the brown bears' winter stay is getting closer and closer. Before winter, I eat a lot of rice to store fat, but I eat a lot anyway. At this time of year, about 8 kg of food is flattened. What kind of stomach do you have? It's a little out of time, but it's autumn leaves and Atarou.
As of October 22, this season's business has ended ❗. Thank you very much ❗ for your many visits. From now on, the brown bears of Bear Mountain will be 💤 preparing for winter. We are also planning to hold tours to observe brown bears sleeping in the animal house during winter, so please ❗ join us. After summer, We will 🐻 upload photos and videos of brown bears that the keepers have taken because the frequency of posting has decreased. This is where Ataro is making a bed in the park. In fact, wild brown bears collect leaves in their burrows like this to make beds during winter~! !!
As of Sunday, October 22, this season's business has ended. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to many customers who came to experience the ecology of brown bears and felt their fascination. We will inform you of the situation in "Bear Mountain News", so I would be happy if you could take a look at it when you have time. At this time of year, watermelons 🍉 are still delicious ❗, and bear bears love it, and some bears eat their skins, while others ❗ leave only their skins.
Special seats! When I suddenly looked at the mitts while patrolling the park in a jeep ... Hmm? That? Isn't it sitting on a rock! Doya! I was looking at this with a feeling.
Returning home! The bears on Bear Mountain return to their homes (animal houses) when business ends, but when it is around 16 o'clock to see if their biological clock works, the bears come home by themselves! This photo shows the bears waiting at the entrance while the person in charge of the animal house is preparing in a hurry.
Kouji: The mating season is almost over, and the bears that used to be in groups have started to act alone. Kouji has been stalked by Santa for over two months. Santa is also starting to act alone. Kouji seems more relaxed when Santa isn't around.
We've had a lot of hot days lately, so I'd like to talk about the colder months. At Bear Mountain, we artificially ``winter'' the brown bears in an animal enclosure in order to make them live more like wild bears. The brown bears have woken up from winter hibernation and seem to have refreshed their minds and bodies, and their fur is in great condition! During the winter, our brown bears are sleeping, so Bear Mountain itself is closed... In fact, starting last season, we have started a tour to observe the bears in winter! Why not take a look at the mysterious brown bear's winter retreat? Brown bear winter observation tour Period: Early January to late February Time: 10:30-, 13:30- Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours Price: 4,320 yen per person Reservation: Until 4:00 pm the day before Notes: 2 to 4 people, elementary school students and above
Mitt taking a bath The hot days continue! I feel like the bears can't do anything unless they're in the water. Actually this image. The ``guy'' who loves Mitt is also looking at us...
