Thank you for always supporting Bear Mountain.
We would like to inform you about future exhibitions of individuals bred at our facility.
Kota Ezo brown bear, male, 34 years old
I had previously been treated for suspected spondylosis, and was under observation with medication until last year, but at the age of 34, my walking ability was declining due to old age, and I was worried about my ability to walk due to the ups and downs in the park.
The release and exhibition of Kota will end in April 2026.We have decided to concentrate on recuperating at the animal shelter.
From now on, we will switch to keeping him only in the animal house and sub-paddock, and allow him to recuperate slowly.
Hirotake Ezo brown bear castrated male 27 years old
I had previously been treated for suspected spondylosis, and until last year I was observing the progress with medication, etc.
Since he has been hibernating this winter, it has become noticeably difficult for him to stand up, and he is currently moving most of the time using only his front legs.
Last year, we released Hirotake while monitoring his condition, physical condition, and his own motivation, but due to his age,
Under the current conditions, it is difficult to release them and there is a risk of deterioration. As of April 2026, the release and exhibition of Hirotake will end.We will concentrate on recuperating at the animal shelter.
From now on, we will switch to keeping him only in the animal house and sub-paddock, and allow him to recuperate slowly.
Moko Ezo brown bear, male, 24 years old
Since around 2019, poor gait has been seen frequently, and the patient will be given medication and monitored.
From around the summer of 2025, he will become noticeably lame and cautious in his gait. There is a high possibility of spondylosis or arthropathy, and medication (painkillers, etc.) should be taken.
December 2025 - Start of winter confinement (fasting) - No problems with fiddling with straw until around February.
Late February 2026: The patient often continues to sleep on his side without changing his position. (Normally, the position and structure will change due to turning over, fiddling, etc.)
March 5th: Even after feeding other individuals, it did not wake up. (Usually the smell of food wakes me up even when I'm still asleep.)
March 8: The patient stands up, but his movements are extremely slow, and it takes time to stand up and lie down. He seems to have difficulty lowering his head or bending over.
March 14th: Unable to stand. Even if I stimulate it, it just groans and doesn't move.
March 15th: Anesthesia/examination, pressure ulcer treatment, and transfer to treatment room. After that, I was bedridden for a while.
March 25th: The breeding staff has a dream of Moko standing up. On the same day, Moco was confirmed to be standing up. Since then, there has been a gradual recovery.
Although it is affected by the medication, his condition has stabilized and he is currently being treated in consultation with a veterinarian.
There is a strong suspicion that she has spondylosis, and with her current walking condition, she cannot be released and is at risk of worsening, and there is a possibility that her condition may deteriorate again in the future.
To continue to focus on treatment and recoveryMoko will be released in April 2026.The breeding/exhibition has ended.
We also use Toyobo MC's product Breath Air for the treatment and recuperation of Moko.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused to those who always support us, but we will be posting information about Kota, Hirotake, and Moko on social media, etc.
Thank you for your support of these three animals.

Moco destroys the mat in seconds and is very happy
