いよいよ2011年も終わろうとしています。 ベアＭｔのクマたちは着々と冬ごもりに入り始めています！ なかなか寝る気配を見せなかったヒロタケもここ数日はだいぶ落ち着いてきており、換気口の蓋も開けなくなってきました。 そのほかのクマたちは、ほぼ冬ごもりに入っているといっていい状況かと思います。 今日アップする写真は、朝一で寝息を聞いたあと獣舎内に入り、格子扉に張った板の小窓からクマの様子を観ているところです。 クマたちの眠りを邪魔しないように、獣舎内には極力入らないようにします。 しかし、呼吸確認だけではワラの状態や、水分確保のために置いている氷などの有無が確認できないので、懐中電灯の灯りのみでヒソヒソ声で状態を確認しています。 まずは前室の様子。 ここで身支度を整え暗闇の獣舎に入っていきます。 どこか探検に行くような格好です・・・ 小窓からクマの様子をうかがいます。 だいたい今で獣舎内はマイナス５℃くらいです。 特別にフラッシュを焚いて撮っていますが、実際真っ暗で感でシャッターをおしました(。。) とにかく皆さん!寒さに負けず、また来年お会いしましょう!！ 【飼育：重松】

今日で完全絶食から7日経ちました。 22日に各部屋を冬ごもりバージョンにリニューアル（格子扉に板を張って暗くし、寝るためのワラを入れました）してから3日経ったのですが、早くもベアＭｔのクマたちは冬ごもりに入ろうとしてきています。 そんな中、なかなか寝る気配のないクマが・・・ なにかと問題児のヒロタケです。 夏場などは通気をよくするために、屋上にある換気口の蓋を開けておいたりするのですが、冬ごもりの際は部屋を暗くする目的と、雪が入り込まないようにするためにもその換気口の蓋は閉めるのですが、今現在で唯一ヒロタケだけがその蓋を自分で開けてしまいます（＞＜） 分かり易く図にしてみました！！ 絵心が無いのに無謀な挑戦をしてしまいました（。＿。） でも本当にこんな感じです！たぶん・・・ 地獄突きのような感じで開けるのですが、蓋に人が乗っかってても開けちゃいます。 さすがヒグマ！！人間なら一発で突き指ですね。 わりと衝撃写真です！よく見るとヒロタケの前肢が見えます。 【飼育：重松】

18日に最終給餌があり19日から完全絶食に入り、今日で4日目になりました。 今日は各部屋の格子扉に板を張り、より寝やすい環境を作る作業を行いました。 今年冬ごもり一番乗りしそうなのが、クリントン!！部屋から出る時もなかなか出てこようとせず、動きも緩慢。 ここ数日はいつも部屋の隅で寝ていて、あまり周囲の事を気にしない様子は確認していたのですが、今日も部屋に入るなり用意していたワラを適当にシャカシャカ整えて、早々と伏臥になり寝てしまいました。 少し分かりにくいですが、ワラの用意された部屋に入ってくるコウジです。 今日はワラがあるからか、みんな素直に入ってきました。 ワラを置いておくと、勝手に自分達の好きなように寝床を作り始めます。 こういった行動は誰に教えられたわけでもなく、みんな本能的に行います!！ 結構個性もあって面白いので、今後いろいろ紹介していきます(＾＾) 【飼育：重松】

12月23日より、園内をスノーシューで散策するネイチャーツアーがはじまります。 まずはベアウォッチングバスコースを進みます。 上に見えるは遊歩道コース。 クマたちはどんなふうに見上げているんだろ？ なんて思いながらスタート。 マーキング（背こすり）のし過ぎで、 木肌が剥がれている木を発見☆ 雪が50cmは積もっているのに、 男性スタッフの頭上にある爪痕。 こんなに間近で見られるのが ネイチャーツアーの醍醐味。 そして、マーキング（背こすり）の時に抜けた毛が 今も残っています。 ヒグマの毛はどんな感触なんだろう。 というツアー内容となっております。 冬ごもり中のヒグマたちはご覧いただけませんが、 ヒグマを感じ、フカフカの雪の上を歩く、 スキー・スノーボードができなくても、元気に歩ける方でしたらご参加いただけます。 スノーシューレンタル込なので、皆様のご参加をお待ちしております！ ベア・マウンテンの森ネイチャーツアー　詳細 昨年の様子はコチラ

今日は久しぶりにベアマウンテンの園内の様子を見に行きました。 案の定園内は深い雪に覆われており、スノーシュー無しではとても歩けない状況になっていました。 主に遊歩道を見て歩いたのですが、だいたいひざ上３ｃｍくらい積もっていたので、そこの目線から見える景色は夏の時期とはまた違ったものでした。（冬なのでそもそも違うんですが・・・） 遊歩道に設置されている落下防止ネットは、雪の落下までも防止してしまうらしく、ネットの上にもモッサリと雪が積もっており、それを除去しないと落下防止ネットに負担が大きくなってしまうので、今日はその除雪作業に汗を流しました。 せっかくなので、なかなか見ることはできない雪に覆われた遊歩道をアップしてみました(＾＾)

12月も中旬に入り、ベアマウンテンもすっかり深い雪の中です。 昨年が雪が少なかったせいか、今年はとても雪が多いように感じられます。 実際、雪と冬ごもりには関係があると言われていて、積もった雪の深さによって、ヒグマが掘って餌を探して食べるのと、へたに動き回って探すより大人しく穴に入ってエネルギー消費を抑え春を待つのとがあるといわれていますが、さすがにここまで積もったら「もう大人しくしているかな?」などと考えたりします。 連日の雪で獣舎の屋根には毎朝こんもりと雪が積もっているのですが、この雪の除雪作業が実はとても重要で、ちゃんと除雪していないと獣舎内に居るクマの体温で屋上の雪が溶け、クマ達の寝ている部屋に滴って、冬ごもりの際クマが寝ているワラなどを湿らせて、代謝の下がっているクマの体温を奪いかねないのです。 そこで飼育員は毎日雪が積もると、獣舎作業前に徹底的に雪を落とすのですが、今年はそのペースが早く、屋上から落としていた雪が、もう積もり積もって獣舎屋上まで届いてしまいました（＞＜） 昨年はここまで来たのは、2月くらいだったと思うので、今年はこれがどこまでいってしまうのか、楽しみです（＾。＾）！ 【飼育：重松】
