As the cold weather is getting worse and worse every day, I thought that all the bears on Bear Mountain were sleeping quietly, but there was one bear that still hadn't settled down (><)

This is Moko, a new addition to Bear Mountain last fall.

P1200272.JPGMoko is a bear who is having their first experience in winter sleepover, and has not eaten anything for another month since he is fasting to stay over winter sleepover, so he needs to be very careful about his health.

This morning, I opened the lid of the ventilation opening on the roof with my fore legs to appeal to you. This is something that bears who have bears who have bears who have begun to wake up after a winter hangover in early spring are often done to appeal to them, saying, "It's gone!", but it's a problem and very worrying to see them come to this point in the middle of winter.

As an aside...

Bears who are staying in winter are loaded with a lot of nutrition in autumn, so if they are quiet, they can survive without eating anything until spring, but they don't need to hydrate to maintain their lives.

P1200266.JPGAt Bear Mountain, we use ice to keep the bears in the winter to ensure moisture, but making ice to keep the moisture is also an important task.

Thanks to the recent cold weather, ice is being created more and more, and while I am grateful for the nature of winter in Hokkaido, the struggle against the cold continues every day...
