Last year, four bears were hibernating for the winter, but this year all of the bears are hibernating. Basically, they sleep curled up on the rice straw, but they don't stay asleep all the time, and occasionally wake up to trim the straw.
The parent and child, Hirotake and Kouta, are very similar in how they build their nests, and they chew straw into small pieces to build their nests. These two birds are also characterized by the fact that their nests often change shape, making their nests either thick or thin.
Other bears, on the other hand, chew straw to soften it and build their nests.
Hirotake, Kouji, Kumaemon, and Misumi, who experienced winter hibernation last year, have built their nests very well and are truly in a "bird's nest" state. The bears, who are experiencing winter huddles for the first time, play with the straw to their heart's content, making nests that vary from extremely large to very thin.
Just as each individual has a different personality, the way they build their nests also differs. That's interesting.
▼I don't mind if it's a little messy as long as I can get a good night's sleep.

▼Keep it clean! It's easier to sleep when it's flat.
